FAQ
How do I join the classes?
You can turn up to any of the classes provided you are over the age of 16. Phone or email Shameem if you are unsure as to which class is best for you.
How do I pay for the classes?
Our classes operate on a pay as you dance basis and cost £5 each. You can purchase punch cards for £40 which gives you 10 classes to use when you want at salsa and our Zumba classes. Thats 2 free classes.
What clothes should I wear for the salsa lessons?
Most people wear loose, comfortable clothing and layering is a good as you can start taking top layers off as you get warm! You can get dressed up as much as you like!
What shoes do I wear?
No trainers they grip the floor too much and restrict your movement
No flipflops/backless sandals they may fall off while you dance
No stilettos they can damage the floor and you could really hurt someone if you stood on their foot.
Generally you want shoes with leather or suede solest. We recommend Rotate dance shoes for women who prefer a heel and for salsa social events. See our links page or brochures in class. To start with pick a pair of shoes that you have at home with a slippy sole. If your not sure bring a selection of shoes to your first class and we'll recommend the best pair for dancing. Both men and women can use Jinga dance shoes, see our Links page or click here JINGA Dance Shoes
Im a complete beginner and have two left feet!
Dont worry! The classes start at beginner level and there will be many of you in the same boat. For anyone with previous dance experience dont worry you wont find our classes boring, there will always be plenty for you to learn and we can progress you to our improvers classes once you are at the right level.
Do I need to bring a partner?
No need to come with a partner! We can partner you in the class. Dancers will be rotated during the lessons and we will try our best to have even numbers. Everyone has a different style, and changing partners will greatly enhance the speed at which you learn.
Can I come with friends?
Absolutely! Our classes are not restricted to couples or singles. You can come with friends and this is particularly beneficial if you're nervous of starting something new on your own.
Do you do private lessons?
Yes. Private lessons are great for that 1 to 1 or 2 to 2 tuition. However, group lessons are a great way to introduce you to salsa and we recommend that you try the group lessons for a few weeks before trying a private lesson. Private lessons will be carried out either at our current class venues or at our home. We can come to you for an extra charge.
We specialise in Wedding choreography so if you want to learn a special 1st dance then come to us for a consultation. The experience is both rewarding and so much fun!
